What if you find your dream property in Greece and can only afford half it? Since some years ago it’s possible to get a mortgage from a Greek bank, for buying a property in Greece, even if you do not have your residency in Greece. A mortgage broker will take care of the procedure (at no cost) and it takes approx 1-2 months and then you get a decision from the chosen Greek bank. And if it’s a YES you can proceed in buying your dream property. To get a mortgage:
- You need to have your residency in the EURO-zone countries, US, UK, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Canada or Australia. If you, for example, live in Sweden, Denmark or Poland it’s not possible
- The mortgage must be fully paid until the year you turn 70
- The mortgage is in EURO
- You can apply up to 80 % of the value of the property (not the purchase price).
- The lowest mortgage allowed is 10000 Euro.
- Arrangement cost is at least 1000 Euro + 0,08% of the mortgage so if you take a mortgage of 100000 € the cost will be 1800 €
